چکیده

We present an approach to the analysis of signals based on analog representation of measurements. Methodologically, it relies on the consideration and full use of the continuous nature of a realistic, as opposed to an idealized, measuring process. Mathematically, it is based on the transformation of discrete or continuous signals into normalized continuous scalar elds with the mathematical properties of distribution functions. This approach allows a simple and e ̄ cient implementation of many traditionally digital analysis tools, including nonlinear ltering techniques based on order statistics. It also enables the introduction of a large variety of new characteristics of both oneand multi-dimensional signals, which have no digital counterparts.

Improving adaptive resolution of analog to digital converters using least squares mean method

This paper presents an adaptive digital resolution improvement method for extrapolating and recursive analog-to-digital converters (ADCs). The presented adaptively enhanced ADC (AE-ADC) digitally estimates the digital equivalent of the input signal by utilizing an adaptive digital filter (ADF). The least mean squares (LMS) algorithm also determines the coefficients of the ADF block. In this sch...

OFDM transmitters: analog representation and DFT-based implementation

The implementation of OFDM transmitters typically consists of a discrete DFT matrix and a digital-to-analog (DAC) converter. Many existing results on the analysis of OFDM systems, e.g., spectral roll-off, are based on a convenient analog representation. In this paper, we show that the analog representation and the DFT-based OFDM transmitters are equivalent only in special cases. Using the analo...

Modeling and Simulation of Substrate Noise in Mixed-Signal Circuits Applied to a Special VCO

The mixed-signal circuits with both analog and digital blocks on a single chip have wide applications in communication and RF circuits. Integrating these two blocks can cause serious problems especially in applications requiring fast digital circuits and high performance analog blocks. Fast switching in digital blocks generates a noise which can be introduced to analog circuits by the common su...

MOCA ARM: Analog Reliability Measurement based on Monte Carlo Analysis

Due to the expected increase of defects in circuits based on deep submicron technologies, reliability has become an important design criterion. Although different approaches have been developed to estimate reliability in digital circuits and some measuring concepts have been separately presented to reveal the quality of analog circuit reliability in the literature, there is a gap to estimate re...

Silicon Models for Auditory Scene Analysis

We are developing special-purpose, low-power analog-to-digital converters for speech and music applications, that feature analog circuit models of biological audition to process the audio signal before conversion. This paper describes our most recent converter design, and a working system that uses several copies of the chip to compute multiple representations of sound from an analog input. Thi...
